Thanks for the thanks, Dean!
Yes, I thought afterwards that the Powerpoint presentation didn't give details of the little programs I mentioned in the talk - so, here we go:

TinyPic (www.efpage.de)

MWSnap (for screen captures)

Copernic Desktop Search

DIManager (saves - and restores - the position of your desktop icons)

PDF re-Direct (PDF file creation)

VLC Media Player

The Sage's English Dictionary and Thesaurus

WordWeb - thesaurus and dictionary

Rhymesaurus Free Edition- rhyming dictionary for Windows

Duplicate Cleaner - finds duplicate files

Stellarium - planetarium for your computer

JPEG Enhancer - helps to remove jpg artefacts

CleanSkin Fx (http://www.mediachance.com/digicam/cleanskin.htm)

Lego Digital Designer - make your own lego models!

Most of these titles can be found on CNet - http://download.cnet.com   A real mixed bag and please don't blame me if they don't agree with your computer and give it heartburn! But I hope some of them provide a bit of fun.

Thanks for the quick upload Jim, and huge thanks to Lesley for the presentation. It was very interesting.

Lesley, could we have links to the programs (or even just the names) that were discussed outside the bounds of the Powerpoint - I'm thinking of the dictionary based programs, duplicate finder, and other goodies. Ta muchly in advance.  Wink

Lesley thoughtfully handed me a CD tonight containing her PowerPoint presentation in PDF form. I've now uploaded it.

Hi John

Did you mean this program http://www.photopos.com/. It appears to be called Photo Pos Pro rather than Photo Pot Pos but I'm sure it's the same thing. What makes it better than Picasa or Windows Photo Gallery?

I have just found a FREE photo editing software which gives very satisfactory results
Google "photo pot pos" (without the commas)
I have tried it and found that it is quite easy to use

BenQ seem to suffer from a left hand and right hand problem and the collection has been delayed
However they assure me that this will take place tomorrow (Thursday)
Will keep you posted

Not by me, I hasten to add, but by The Register. I haven't heard of some of these programs but all look both sensible and interesting.

The new projector failed last night. Lucky that I'd decided not to put my old one on eBay Smiley.

Benq have been pretty good so far. When John contacted them this morning they said that they'd arrange for a courier to pick it up under warranty and that they'd lend us another in the interim Smiley.
