The first week of June each year is celebrated nationally as Volunteers' Week and that is when we hold an evening party to thank all those people who give so generously of their time and effort through Pulborough & District Community Care Association. Home made refreshments and a glass of wine are small tokens of our appreciation of all that they do.

This year, our MP, Nick Herbert, kindly attended the evening and met many of our volunteers. In a short address Nick said that the "Big Society" was simply a new name for something which our volunteers and indeed many others nationally, had been doing for many years. This comment reflected our own feelings about the community spirit expressed through our organisation and we are proud of our long history of working in the Pulborough area. Despite the current financial climate, we sincerely hope that we shall continue to receive the very modest support we need to maintain our services; and to expand them whenever the need arises, as we have been doing for the past 46 years.
